The Pomander

The 16th century was known for its acceleration in science, craft and humanism. It was the age of discovery and innovation, with amazing breakthroughs that we still know of today. One of these breakthroughs made by Peter Henlein, is the first handheld watch. Coming from Nuremberg, the epicentre of flourishing craftsmanship, has given him the greatest push he needed. While living in the Monastery he has gained knowledge on astronomy, mathematics and clockmaking, which helped him creating his first watch. 1510 was the year he received great recognition for his creations. Peter Henlein brought a never before seen scale of miniaturisation in clock mechanisms. He was a visionary in his time and was known as the maker of something remarkable, a Pomander watch that still ticks to this day. A watch that made a journey through time.

Your Peter Henlein timepiece is warranted for 10 years from the date of purchase against all manufacturing defects.

For warranty repairs, the defective watch must be registered as soon as possible by contacting us via info@peterhenlein.eu. In your email, please specify your name and order number, and provide a detailed description of the issue.

Battery changes are not considered a warranty repair service.

Please note, your warranty does not cover:

  • Failure or damage resulting from improper use, lack of care, or accidents (i.e. knocks, dents, crushing, broken crystal, etc.);
  • Aesthetic changes resulting from normal wear, tear and aging (i.e. scratched case or crystal, alteration of the color and/or material of non-metallic straps);
  • Excessive contact with water may cause damage to the watch. Water penetration or damage caused under these circumstances will not be covered by warranty;
  • Peter Henlein watches serviced by non-certified repair staff (e.g. for battery replacement, service, or repairs);

Customers have the right to return orders up to 90 days after receival. Only the costs for returning the customer to our warehouse are for your own account. If the right of withdrawal is exercised, the product with all accessories supplied and - if reasonably possible - in the original condition and packaging will be returned to Peter Henlein. We will refund the order amount within 14 days, assumed that the product has already been returned in good condition.

You can change your Peter Henlein timepiece within 90 days of receiving your order. A store credit will be allocated once the product has arrived back at our warehouse and we have assessed its condition (in original packaging with all components and accessories/gifts included). You may exchange it for a product of equal or lesser value; we will refund you the difference for lower-priced items and bill you for the difference for a higher-priced product.

You are responsible for the correct input of the delivery address; Peter Henlein does not hold any responsibility for shipments that have been delivered on an incorrect address (that was communicated with Peter Henlein prior to the shipment). In case Perter Henlein needs additional information regarding a delivery address, you may be approached by Peter Henlein in order to provide additional information. A delay in the delivery may occur in case additional information regarding the delivery address is needed.

Peter Henlein will use reasonable efforts to deliver the order within the expected delivery terms to the delivery address. If delivery suffers a delay, or if the order is not (or only partly) executable, you will be informed about this as soon as reasonably possible after the order has been placed. In this case, you have a right to dissolve the contract free of charge.

The risk of damage and/or loss of products rests upon Peter Henlein up to the moment of delivery to the delivery address, unless this has explicitly been agreed otherwise.

In case you receive a product that you did not order, you must inform Peter Henlein hereof as soon as possible (within 24 hours after receiving the order) by email (or through the contact page of the Website). In case you received a damaged or incomplete product, you must inform the Peter Henlein customer care team as soon as possible (within 24 hours after receiving the order) through the website contact form. Subsequently, Peter Henlein will decide how to deal with the matter at hand; you must always inform Peter Henlein in the aforementioned situation(s) and wait for the instructions of the Peter Henlein customer service team.

      Peter Henlein apprenticed as a locksmith in his youth, which were also one of the only craftsmen that had the skills to become a clockmaker. During his time in the monastery around 1504, he gained mastery in the art of clockmaking. Having met mathematicians, astronomers and inventors at the monastery has brought a new perspective in his craftsmanship. 5 years later he used this knowledge to create the first watch: The Pomander. Our Peter Henlein Astrologium line stands for the knowledge Peter Henlein had to gain to create his first watch.
